Logan McCree: Od roku 2007 natáčí pro americkou společnost Raging Stalion a patří mezi jejich nejlepší export. Se svým chlapeckým vzezřením, vyrýsovanou postavou, versatilním talentem a tetováním po celém těle, patří k těm, které si zapamatujete na první pohled.
Logan se před nedávnem objevil v Praze a to byla možnost promluvit si s ním o tom, co by všichni chtěli vědět, ale na co se ne všichni mají příležitost zeptat.

Table nejsou rock'n'roll

Table jsou dva mladý kluci, Dominik Gajarský a Roman Štětina, oba v současný době studující na pražské AVU.
Kluci nejsou ani omylem moc cool a už vůbec nejsou rock'n'roll - čili obecně nesplňujou základní požadavky na to, aby o nich Vice psal. Jenže! Jenže vydali tohle jaro desku "We are not longer the same" a ta zní mnohem líp než většina současný český produkce, ba dokonce nezní ani moc jako česká nahrávka (a věřte, že to je kompliment). Takže jsme si řekli - mrdat na rock'n'roll - a rozhodli jsme se vyzpovídat  tuhle electro-synth-post-punkovou dvojku, jejíž nahrávka většinu redakce českýho Vice upřímně baví.

Vincent Moon / An Interview

 Vincent Moon was born Mathieu Saura in Paris in 1979. At the age of 18, while studying the theory of film and photography, he decided to absorb as many influences as possible, even at the price of absolute oversaturation. In photography, he was most inspired by Michael Ackerman and Antoine D’Agata. Some years later, his discovery of the work of Peter Tscherkassy led him to film.

In 2006, influenced by the film Step Across the Border – a documentary about English guitarist Fred Frith – he and his friend Chryde decided to create the music- and film-themed podcast The Take Away Shows, a series of short music documentaries about musicians improvising in unusual places. Thanks to the speed of the Internet, this podcast became a worldwide sensation within a few weeks. Over a number of years, he managed to shoot about three hundred music videos, short films and documentaries. REM, Beirut, Grizzly, Caribou, Wicleff Jean and Sigur Rós are some of the protagonists of Moon’s films.

Vincent Moon / Rozhovor

Znáte Vincenta? Jestli ne, tak byste měli. Vincent je totiž jeden z nejproduktivnějších filmařů, který chodí po týhle planetě - za posledních pár let natočil víc než 300 krátkých filmů, videí a dokumentů. A nejenže točí hodně, točí taky zatraceně dobře. U jeho videa máte pocit, že hudebníkům dejcháte na záda a jezdíte po hmatníku. Vincent umí blízkost a intimitu.A my ho máme rádi. A nejenom my - R.E.M., Mogwai, Arcade Fire, Lhasa de Sala, Beirut, Grizzly Bear, Caribou, Wyclef Jean, Sigur Rós a stovky dalších ho mají rádi taky. Rozhovor nám dal během zastávky v Paříži, kam se vrátil, aby sestříhal svůj poslední projekt Boomtown Babylon.

Times New Viking / Rozhovor

Times New Viking v Praze = entuziazmus, dobrá energie a lo-fi pop od Amíků, který se potkali na akademii a tak dlouho spolu chodili na přednášky, až je napadlo, že dát dohromady band bude mnohem větší legrace. Na otázky Vice odpověděl bubeník Adam Elliott. Jako správnej bubeník se držel zlatýho pravidla - odpovídat stručně a moc se s tím nepárat.

Tepichy

 Lesbická scéna v Praze bývala o dost sevřenější než scéna buzen.
Zatímco komunita gayů prošla od devadesátých let standardním vývojem a teď v Praze existují desítky teplých barů, hospod, klubů a saun, holky si hleděly svýho, pořádaly jedinou komerční párty (Freedom) a chodily do jedinýho klubu (Jampa Dampa). Ještě asi před rokem o sobě nedávaly moc vědět. Takže zatímco Vinohradskou zalívala záře buzních melírků a zaháněla heteráče jak šváby pod kámen, u holek bylo ticho po pěšině. Před rokem začala změna. Radikální!

Bílá vrána Jakub Polanka

Jakub Polanka je bílá vrána. Jako jednomu z mála se mu podařilo dostat se z české módní šedi na mezinárodní úroveň. Docela paradoxně, protože šedá je pro Jakuba asi nejdůležitější barva.
Po ukončení studia na pražské Vysoké umělecko-průmyslové odjel do Paříže, kde studoval postgraduál na Francaise Institut de la mode a tři roky pracoval pro Philippa Starcka. V současné době se Jakub vrátil do Prahy, kde dokončuje novou kolekci. 

Knír ist hier

Brad Pitt, Hitler, John Waters, Havel, Klaus, Hercule Poirot, Tom Selleck, Jan Rosák ale i táta, strejda nebo děda většiny z nás – knír je globální fenomén, kterýmu neuniknete. Byl tady v minulosti a bude tady zjevně i v 21. století.
První dochovaný knír najdete na iránské fresce neznámého jezdce. Ta pochází z doby 300 let před naším letopočtem. Pak přišel Ježíš, který byl, podle všeho, spíš fanoušek plného osrstění. Dál Avaři, Hunové, Tataři, Keltové – kníry, kam se podíváš.

Bez Leeho McQueena bude móda o dost menší punk

11. února to (krátce po smrtí svojí matky) zabalil z vlastního rozhodnutí Alexander McQueen – bez diskuze jeden z nejhravějších a nejvýraznějších módních návrhářů posledních dvaceti let.

Sunflower Caravan, Rozhovor 11.2. 2010

Sunflower Caravan hrajou přibližně od roku 2001. Občas připomínají klasickej psychedelickej 70ies rock a občas taky trochu čajíčky alá Coldplay.
Jejich zvuk se pořád vyvíjí a kluci si užívají svoje britpopový momenty stejně jako tvrdší polohu. Minulý rok vydali pod Soundsquare nepojmenovanou debutovou desku a tenhle říjen se jí chystají ve studiu pořídit sourozence.
Česká zahrádka se jim poslední dobou zdá malá a přemýšlí, že by se podívali na delší dobu za hranice, aby zkusili, jak se dělá hudba jinde.

Pipes and Pints - Rozhovor 26.1. 2010

Pražská punk-rocková parta Pipes and Pints zahájila projekt magazínu Vice.
Pití bylo dost, lidi se bavili a kluci hráli nahlas a rychle.
Skupina existuje od roku 2006, má za sebou jedno EP a desku “Until we die”, která vyšla ke konci roku 2009. Pánové hrajou svižnej punk střihnutej folkem. Exoticky znějící zvuk kapele dodávají skotský dudy, na který hraje kapelník Vojta.

Nebezpečný trance

Pro nezasvěcené - hudební styl trance nám tady zůstal jako vzpomínka na dobu, kdy jsme všichni chodili trsat na pole, měli se rádi a prali do sebe tolik tablet, že z nás tryskala láska. Co Vám ale hrozí, když budete tuhle pokleslou permutaci taneční hudby poslouchat? Nabízíme rychlo-analýzu!

České hudební projekty, které za něco stály

I když to tak při poslechu rádia může vypadat, ne všechna česká hudební produkce stála vždycky za hovno.
Vykašlete se na chvíli na hudební dramaturgy Radiožurnálu a jejich fixaci na Enyu, Petru Janů a Enigmu. Vykašlete se na komerční rádia a jejich italskej pop a holandskej euro-trance. Sestavili jsme pro Vás totálně neobjektivní ochutnávku toho, co nás kdysi bavilo. Většina projektů buď už neexistuje, jejich členové pěstujou zeleninu, dělají v reklamkách, dali se na politiku nebo se zviditelňujou jako porotci v Superstar. Ale i když jsou z většiny z nich starý řepy, kdysi pohnuli naším světem.

Bezdomovcův obývák

Letenský sady jsou pěknej koutek. Jsou tu staré stromy, starší dámy se psy a taky jedna reklamka, velká jak kolo u vozu. V závětří si tady parta lokálních bezdomovců vytvořila improvizovanej obývák. Nanosili si do výčnělku se sezením hromadu starejch polštářů z vyhozenýho gauče, přinesli deky a menší odpaďák na táborák, zapálili, aby to hřálo (teplota k večeru klesla pod -15 stupňů a dost to štípalo). Partičku jsem navštívil zrovna, když si nad ohněm kousek bokem vařili nějakou dobrotu. Bylo jich tu šest. Ujal se mě Josef.

Tajemství ruské vodky

Nedávno jsem potřeboval nutně koupit nějakej šnaps a tak jsem se motal po Vršovicích a náhodou jsem zapadnul do malýho krámku. Tvářil se jako klasickej Vietnam, ale vlastnili ho dva rusové - Yuri a Irina. Sháněl jsem se po čemkoliv tekutým, co má aspoň 40 procent a chtěl koupit fernet nebo obligátní českou vodku. Když jsem si řek o Pražskou vodku Irina si uplivla a vysvětlila mi, že oni podobnej shit nevedou, protože, na rozdíl od nás, ví, jak má správná vodka chutnat.

Art sucks

Facebook generation and their art affairs. I love the stellar sameness of this art. One of those nights had taken place at one remote industrial venue (yawn no.1) and was full of young, assertive and articulate artists (yawn no.2).

Lady in black

She's the most important person in the theatre. You don't know her, you're not nice to her, you get a lousy seat. If you treat her nice, you win. She's the insider and 'behind the scenes' queen. She's witty and chatty, she nags and smokes 40 a day. I adore her. Her name is Anna Marie.

Ostrava / Black coffee with attitude

I went to the city of warm heart and black lungs. Ostrava - former rich and half-forgotten queen of mines and heavy industry. It's a bit of a cultural shock - industrial and functionalist architecture everywhere. But it's a positive shock. Ostrava has got a character. And attitude. Although it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Actually no tea here. It is more of a strong black coffee. And at places it dazzles like a black pearl in the dust.

Women's Power

God knows what would happen if women rule the world. I don't know. I do know, however, that some of them can make life a very pleasant journey - with their charms, quirks, wit and unpredictability. And that many of them also happen to be a very pleasant objects to capture. These pictures don't have anything in common apart from capturing women I love/hate for being tender, strong, silly, bitchy, entertaining, loving, carefree, clever, sassy and full of life. Kristyna, Veronika, Nikki, Sylvia and Asia - they all possess some of Venus 'eternal' qualities and I somehow think that such quality glows through those pictures.

Living in the cotton-wool cradle of our own limited consciousness until something strikes us?
I was passing by one of the financial buildings in the West End a few days back when this array of old newspapers and cardboard messages captivated my attention.
The first message reads:
Homeless + pennyless Ex-services please help and spare change for a bed & breakfast tonight out the cold + wet please help if you can thanks + god bless
The second message that lied next to drums in a plastic bag and went:
These are Bill that sleeps here's drums to give to his 8yr old daughter. So please don't throw away I will be back to collect after my hospital appointment later today. Thank you.
So the next time when you or me nag about some piece of piss, let's try to think about Bill that sleeps here! I'm sure we've got it much easier than him.

I almost believed photography cannot surprise me anymore. But oh boy, this guy has just proved me fatally wrong! His pictures are bold, funny, sassy and on the fringe. What a queer boudoir

I went to this little vintage shop in Gent and when in I asked the guy if there was anything downstairs or upstairs. He told me (with heavy french accent): Downstairs is for bad people. But there's some furniture upstairs. I'd love to go downstairs but I figured out he didn't want me to. So I went upstairs. There was a very little furniture; in fact only a coffee table few lamps, and some freakish mannequins with wigs. But there was this little room with a clothes hanger and walls painted in pink. They were crammed with the most camp memorabilia you can imagine - models, boys who look like girls, and girls who look like boys, celebrities and other pop-culture crap - a teenage queer wet dream (or a nightmare). I was chuffed.

Devil is in details

I am still bizarrely mesmerised by churches, their interiors and decorations. Be it chubby cherubs, angels, saints or martyrs. I'm sucker for the medieval heaviness and the smell of frankincense. If you have the same quirk Belgium is feast for you. Gothic or Baroque, immaculate Belgian churches prove that devil is in details

Dam's Architecture

What do you do with all the water? Let's build on it. How to accommodate all those people? Let's add another stock. Amsterdam is a pick & mix. Modern and traditional housing together with more or less institutionalised houseboats comes together and create a colourful bricolage.

Dig Rotterdam!

Amsterdam and Rotterdam are like water and fire. Where the capital attracts hordes of tourists, young professionals and new money relying on its traditional charms; Rotterdam, completely destroyed during the 2WW, offers a spires of skyscrapers, wide NYC-like avenues and ebullient street life. Rotterdam is a brawling 'fuck off' to all things traditional and classy.
And it's the most black and funky city I've seen in Europe so far. The picks from the ZomerParade. Dig Rotterdam!

Banksy & the British complex

Ok, so Banksy has been outed by Mail on Sunday. Woo-hoo! Big Deal! It has become clear that his real name is Robert Gunningham and he has (shock) a middle-class background! Well, just an average Joe then? What is really striking about this is that people actually does pay attention to that information (online Guardian dedicated the front picture to this).
So is it just me? I mean, the largest part of population in the South of Britain belongs to the middle-class bunch, right? And apparently Banksy was born in the south of Britain. Why people then make so much fuss regarding his class status? And why all those middle-class journos write on this matter like if the middle-class was suddenly a personification of resident evil? Banksy's amongst the best British export and his work possesses those nearly-forgotten British qualities of being ironic, clever and punctual. Yes, that sort of qualities that once used to be held by the middle-classes (at that dark era when a tea was served right next to a fruitcake, hence - long time before Starbucks and the credit-frenzy). What is really worrying though is that people seriously still consider a class status as something important. On the beginning of 21st century, long time away from the Victorian era of false morality your average Brit still does give a shit about job occupation of Banksy's parents. If you ask me, this thinking is what makes bloody Britain backwards and pre-pubertal. Let's just put things straight - Banksy is a good chap that cares about things most people ignore and he does so pretty cleverly. Whoever cares about his personal status or family background is a backward twat!
